Bringing the kiddos upstate to #kinhousekerhonkson? There’s plenty to do, both inside the house, outside the house, and within 5-25 min drives from Kin House. Here are some of our favorite spots for kids, restaurants that are great for running around, and more.

Kelder’s Farm
(7 mins)

There’s mini golf, farm animals, a corn maze and more. Plus, the 2nd largest garden gnome in the US.

Saunderskill Farms
(10 mins)

A cute market plus U-Pick fruit

Lake Awosting Beach
(7 mins)

Open June 18. The lake is an official swimming spot complete with a life guard and solid bathrooms / changing areas. $10 per car or free with the Empire Pass.

Woodstock Farm Sanctuary
(20 mins) – woodstocksanctuary.org

Open on Saturdays for tours between 10am-2pm. $15 per person. A note: our tours are educational and are best suited for adults and children over the age of 6. If you plan on bringing kids, we suggest taking the 10am tour!

Coxing Stream
(20 mins)

Bring your bathing suits! This stream and swimming hole is a great place to cool off. No life guards. Pets on leashes welcome. This is run by Mohonk so it’s $15 per person to enter. It’s also got hiking trails starting points across the road for you to do before or after.

Kerhonkson Rail Trail
(3 mins)

Bring bikes or take an easy stroll down this flat paved bike and walking path. Parents, grab coffees for you and pastries for you and the kids from Mill & Main before, which is right at the start of the trail parking lot.

Joppenbergh Mountain Loop & Lunch at The Big Cheese
(20 mins)

Fun and easy 1.5 hour loop with a nice viewpoint of the Rosendale bridge. Free! Park behind The Big Cheese and grab lunch there after.

Upstate Restaurants that are Great for Kids

Westwind Orchard & Arrowood Brewery
(10 mins, right across from each other)

Both restaurants have huge outdoor lawns (Arrowood is a maybe double the size, both great sizes) and lovely spots to let kiddos run free. They often have out lawn games like corn hole, too.

Ravenwood
(7 mins)

A cute little barn shop with fresh local produce, gifts, a small menu (we LOVE the salad) and a big area for running around.

Sleeping Giant Ice Cream
(5 mins)

Say no more, it’s an ice cream shop right down the street!

Ollie’s Pizza
(15 mins)

Kids love pizza, and parents will really love this pizza, too. Great choice when they weather is nice, they have a big outdoor area.

Cherries Ice Cream
(15 mins)

Another cute ice cream shop with locally sourced soft serve and ice cream, and soon to add more food options like burgers and fries.
