Looking for a place to go swimming and cool off when staying at #KinHouseKerhonkson? There are a bunch of places within 5-25 minutes away. Depending on the environment you’re looking for, here are some of our favorite options:
Lake Awosting Beach at Minnewaska State Park Preserve
Just 5-10 minutes from Kin House you’ll find a lifeguarded beach with nice bathrooms at Minnewaska – Lake Awosting. It’s $15 a car or free with The Empire Pass.

Watering Holes at Minnewaska
Not an official swimming spot, but if it hasn’t been too hot out and there’s been some rain, there’s an easy walk that brings you to a stream with nice spots for cooling off. If you prefer to avoid crowds, consider unofficial spots, like hikes with streams. Just 5-10 mins from Kin House, this is a lovely easy flat hike at Minnewaska State Park Preserve that brings you to a very long stream with tons of spots to dip your toes and splash around. There are a bunch of shallow pools – natural plunge pools! Could be great for kids though but slippery – bring water shoes.
Coxing Kill Falls
Clear, cold, running water just 20 mins from #kinhousekerhonkson! Coxing Kill stream: the perfect place to cool off this summer. No life guards. Pets on leashes welcome. This is run by Mohonk so it’s $15 per person to enter. Children age 15 and under are free and must be accompanied by an adult. It’s also got hiking trails starting points across the road for you to do before or after.
The Ulster County Pool
Did you know the #UlsterCountyPool is just 20 mins from #kinhousekerhonkson and is open to the public/non-residents? There’s an Olympic sized pool, 2 kiddie pools, a covered picnic area, playground, and more! Day passes are between $8-$14 for non-residents. It’s in the heart of #NewPaltz – so have a swim day then eat and shop at one of the many local spots, or take a walk or bike on the shaded rail trail.
